Professor Oleh Lushchak of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology has been awarded a fellowship from the Virtual Ukraine Institute for Advanced Study (VUIAS) for the 2026-2027 academic year (https://vuias.org/person/oleh-lushchak/).
Established in 2023 by the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin (Berlin Institute for Advanced Study) with support from the Volkswagen Foundation (Germany), VUIAS supports Ukrainian scholars, promotes their research, and creates opportunities for academic collaboration both in Ukraine and internationally. In addition to research fellowships, the programme offers opportunities to participate in scientific seminars, roundtable discussions, panel discussions, and training events organised with the support of the Berlin Institute for Advanced Study.
As part of the programme, Professor Lushchak will conduct a project entitled “Complex multi-omic investigation of lifespan determinants in Drosophila melanogaster.” The fellowship provides an opportunity to advance fundamental research on ageing and contribute to a better understanding of the biological mechanisms that determine lifespan.
We warmly congratulate Professor Oleh Lushchak on this achievement and wish him every success with the project, along with exciting discoveries that will advance ageing research and strengthen the international collaboration of the Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology.
