Students of our department Petro Hats and Khristina Fediv took part in a three-day educational program Biotech Studios by Enzym Group, which took place on November 13-15 and was aimed at deepening practical skills in industrial biotechnology.
For two days in the R&D laboratory, participants worked with fermenters, planted yeast, and familiarized themselves with the operation of modern laboratory equipment. In the analytical unit, students performed work on the HPLC system, determined the protein content using the Dumas method, determined the formol number, and measured the concentration of alcohol and sugars using a refractometer.
As part of the molecular module, students performed PCR and agarose gel electrophoresis to identify yeast strains.
A separate stage of the program was an excursion to the Enzym Group production facility, where participants were able to see large-scale industrial lines, yeast cultivation stages, and quality control systems at various stages of the production cycle.
Participation in BioTech Studios was a valuable professional experience that significantly expanded our students’ competencies in the field of industrial biotechnology and modern analytical methods.
